The first thing that jumps out when listening to this cd is the passion and energy both Corey and Precise have. This passion is matched by strong flow and lyrical content, which is obviously inspired by a very real faith in Jesus and an understanding of his word.
This album gripped me very quickly and I found the depth of lyrical content to be inspiring. Corey and Precise hail from New York and echo the sound that is resonating on the street , yet at the same time this album refreshingly free from and actively contradicts the ‘guns, girls and clothes’ themes that are so common place in the rap arena.
I first heard of the dynamic duo when the navigator lent me a copy of their mixtape ‘street prophecy vol. 1’. After a follow up mixtape and this groundbreaking album Corey Red and Precise have well and truly fixed themselves securely in the scene with a strong product not for the weak minded.
Some might say that the theme of revelation is over emphasised, but I think this reflects what the duo face on a daily basis and is a message which needs to be heard.
The thing I love most about this album is that these boys speak it real and are unashamed about telling passionately what Jesus has done personally in both of their lives. With real life stories and a strong grasp of scripture they eloquently and effectively spit bars that resonate life and freedom through the gospel message. One more thing, the production is HEAVY! I cannot say enough good things about this album. Banging beats, truth filled rhymes, and a good dash of humour. Buy it.
