The formation of the 29th Regiment

Here is the run down of 29 over the years. Move your mouse over the dates to see the info.

1998 ... 1999 ... 2000 ... 2001 ... 2002 ... 2004 ... 2005 ... 2006

1998:

The year is 1998. Two young soldiers who we now know as Mr Prince and Navigator are in a crew called Set Apart. Slowly building momentum as one of West London’s only gospel rap crews they begin to hit shows all over England completing missions and preaching the gospel. Having met with another soldier known as Yinka, Set Apart begins to hit the urban terrain in regular frontline evangelism missions.

An alliance is formed with Yinka and Set Apart move forward with a vision to expand and develop a bigger crew that will take the hip-hop world by storm. Their aim is to not only perform a distinctive and engaging show but to reach young people with the life changing message of Jesus and a demonstration of God’s power. Yinka presents the name Acts 29. The alliance is solidified.

1999:

We march forward to the summer of 1999. The Set Apart Soldiers venture to the northern regions of England to support a mission unfolding there. They meet an old comrade from Birmingham, later to be known as ‘Dangerous’. He is developing in his rapping and music production skills and so the Set Apart soldiers take him on board so that they might harness his skills as a developing emcee and skilled producer, thus expanding the alliance’s arsenal.

That same summer, both Set Apart and Dangerous visit another mission base; a festival known as Soul Survivor where thousands of young people gather every year. In the midst of performing at venues and roadsides within the festival, Set Apart meets a young soldier later to be known as ‘McGladius’. McGladius is a talented young Northern Irish boy who seems to be tearing up the floor with a battle like fury. The crew make a connection and form a lasting bond with the hope of later bringing him into the alliance.

2000:

It is now the turn of the millennium. The summer approaches and Mr. Prince, Navigator, Dangerous and McGladius gather at the Soul Survivor event and secure the alliance under the banner of Acts 29. That same year Yinka honourably discharges from the alliance to pursue a different mission as a pastor.

2001:

2001 begins and Acts 29 hit the UK performing as a four-man crew. They push on, producing various singles, EPs and albums and taking the UK by storm.

2002:

Acts 29 changes their name to The 29th Chapter.

2004:

The 29th Chapter, affectionately known as 29, have established themselves as an elite corps of specialist soldiers, travelling internationally and appearing at various events and shows. They take a bold leap, leaving their full time jobs and working full time for The 29th Chapter.

With an arsenal of musical artillery and an extensive vision, they continue to create waves on the music scene and press forward to make history in their generation and beyond!

2005:

The crew up the ante in 2005,by organising and running the first live hip-hop venue at the Soul Survivor festival, being residents at the New Wine Festival, appearing on Channel 4, recording a live track with Tim Hughes and performing at international hip-hop festival ‘Flavor: Fest’ in Tampa Bay, Florida…. as well as rocking schools across West London.

2006

With an arsenal of musical artillery and an extensive vision, they continue to create waves on the music scene and press forward to make history in their generation and beyond… watch out for the new album summer 2006.
